A WOVEN TALE OF THE DUALITY OF IDENTITY

This series explores the complex nature of the dualities we all struggle with in life. This project involved superimposing multiple images of the same person in a 4-step process - combining photography, paper weaving, and painting.

The first image was taken in a public space, looking into the camera, expressing self confidence. The second image was taken in a private studio, looking down, arms crossed to cover the body. Combined, these images represent a kind of duality we all have between our outward public image and the one we hold privately in our minds.

1. The first image was printed, hand textured with a glue-sealant, and then cut into strips.

2. The strips were then woven together randomly to create this mosaic. This mosaic was then photographed.

3. A second image was then selected and superimposed over the mosaic image.

4. The resulting image was then printed, textured, painted, and mounted in a custom frame.
